About Our School
Harriet Thompson Elementary School is a school that prides itself on building and maintaining a strong tie between students, parents and school staff.
The school hosts monthly site council team meetings, which bring together the school principal, staff members and parents. The team works to ensure the best interest of the students is served and helps promote strong communication and collaboration between home and school.
Parent team members help organize the school's annual talent show. There are monthly parent information nights held at Harriet Thompson where different sessions are held to discuss and support everything from parent and student needs to school needs.
The school also organizes several annual fundraisers, from the walk-a-thon that goes to support field trips, to fourth and fifth grade candy sales that go to support a Seattle field trip for the fifth grade students and a field trip to Walla Walla for the fourth grade students. The school also collects Campbell's Soup labels, recycles J paper items and hosts twice yearly book fairs.
To help encourage and support our students Harriet Thompson also holds quarterly TEAM, Thompson Explorer's Achieve More, assemblies to honor students for perfect and outstanding attendance and to present the Academic Scholar Award, Harriet Thompson Citizen award, Respectful Playground Award, students of the month and the Going the Extra Mile Award.
The school is also a site of the 21st Century After School Program, which provides amazing support for students.
